Ok guys, after reading so many fictions by all of you, I decided to start one of my own. I've actually already written the first three sections which I will post one a week. I'm only doing this to stay consistent, and I have AP exams coming up so I wouldnt be able to do a lot of writing then. So, for (hopefully) your enjoyment, here's my fan fic:
Right Under My Nose Chapter 1~Let’s Take a Walk “The difference between the Cavalier and Metaphysical poems is a result of the common theme of ‘carpe diem’ in the Cavalier poems.” Nope, not gonna work. “‘Carpe diem’, which means seize the day, was a common theme of the Cavalier poems because they were dying out and wanted to live life to its fullest now.” My God, what was I a sixth grader (no offense guys)? Definitely not. If you haven’t noticed, I am trying to write a paper on the Cavalier and Metaphysical poems. Can’t you tell it’s going well? Yea, and it’s due tomorrow and it counts for a nice chunk of my grade. Did I mention it is 8:30 at night and I still haven’t even come up with my thesis yet? AP British Literature can now officially die. I groaned in frustration and let my head fall on the keyboard of my computer What possessed me to sign up for so many Advanced Placement classes my senior year? I mean three is a little much to take on the year you’re supposed to slack off in everything. I would have kept feeling sorry for myself if an IM box didn’t suddenly pop up and interrupt my thoughts. Jguitar114: Bekaaaaa! Jguitar114: get your head off the keyboard and walk with me I smiled when I saw who the IM was from, my next door neighbor Joe Guese. We’ve known each other our whole lives, but we didn’t become good friends until middle school. Joe was referring to our weekly Thursday walks which could really be a pain. Like now. Jguitar114: I see the paper is going well… The smart alec! I turned around in my chair and looked out my window towards Joe’s house. At least he wasn’t watching me from the balcony. Yes, we both have balconies which were actually very handy when we were younger. But he was in his room and I could see the back of his head and he was printing something, probably the stupid paper. He could probably see the white glare that came from my computer. Soccergal82: incredibly well, I’m overflowing with ideas Jguitar114: lol Jguitar114: seriously, take a walk with me Soccergal82: Joe, all I have to turn in is a paper with my name, the date, and subject…no way…I’m skipping tonight Jguitar114: when have I ever let you get away with skipping walks?...that’s right never Soccergal82: please Joe! Jguitar114: listen to me, take a break, walk with me for 20 minutes and then you’ll write your paper…you just need to clear your head Soccergal82: you are so frustrating Joe Guese!!!!!! Jguitar114:…and I love you too…I’ll be over in a few Soccergal82: ugh bye And with that, his away message went up. I turned around and saw Joe get up from his desk and turn out his lights as he walked out of his bedroom. Sighing loudly, I got up from my comfortable chair and walked to my closet. I quickly slipped on my sneakers and grabbed my school varsity soccer sweatshirt. Before walking out, I stopped at my mirror and quickly brushed my wavy brown hair which I started growing out recently. I looked at myself closely in the mirror and decided to put some concealer under my tired hazel eyes. I didn’t want Joe questioning me about why I had such huge bags under my eyes. Since it was so cold out, I also applied a little bit of my favorite Burt’s Bees chap stick and ran out of my bedroom door and down the stairs. “Mom, I’m walking with Joe,” I called out. “Fine, tell him to give my regards to the rest of the family,” she said from the kitchen. “I will,” and with that, I was out the door. Mom and Mrs. Guese were good friends, even before Joe or I was born. They went through pregnancies together and everything. If it wasn’t for them, Joe and I probably wouldn’t be the great friends we are today. Speaking of the devil… There was Joe walking down the sidewalk whistling some unknown tune. He was wearing his Colorado sweatshirt (which I swear he never takes off), faded jeans, and a pair of flip flops. He was obviously more immune to Denver winds than I was, I can’t stand the cold. I walked down my front steps, my eyes meeting with Joe’s piercing green eyes. He stopped whistling and smiled a little at the look of annoyance that was on my face and lifted his right arm. I slid right next to him and he plopped his arm over my shoulder and pulled me even closer to him. I just put my left arm around his slim waist and closed my eyes as I leaned against his warm body and let him lead me along the path. No matter how frustrating it was to deal with Joe, in the end I was always glad that he forced me into these walks. They really were relaxing. I sighed softly in content as I breathed in Joe’s unique scent. Joe just chuckled to himself, “Joe: 8, Beka: 0.” He was referring to how many times he was able to talk me into coming on our walks, even after I had stubbornly refused. “Hang on, I did get out of one walk,” I persisted. “You had the flu. I’m not that cruel to you.” “I beg to differ…” I grumbled. Joe just laughed and we continued our walk in silence. That’s the good thing about walking with Joe. There was no urge to have to talk and there were no awkward silences when we were together. Just being around him helped me forget about my problems, even if it was only for twenty minutes. “What’s going on Beka? I saw your face, you look like you haven’t slept for weeks.” Remind me to never use Cover Girl concealer again. “I just can’t take it anymore, Joe. I’m so sick of taking these stupid classes that aren’t going to be important to me. I’m up until three in the morning trying to keep up with all these AP’s and I just can’t do it!” “You have to learn to be mellow, just let life do its thing, and whatever happens, happens,” he said. “Easier said than done Mr. Screw-the-world-I-only-care-about-my-guitar,” I said. “I care about you,” he answered back sweetly. I could feel him smile. I just laughed, “You’re getting smoother and smoother, Guese. I remember the days where you couldn’t even look a girl in the eye. Oh wait, you STILL can’t.” “Ouch, that really hurt. But, who still has never had her first kiss yet?” He had a point; I still hadn’t had my first kiss, while he bragged about getting his first his freshman year. “It’s not my fault I haven’t found a guy who’s worth losing my kissing virginity over,” sometimes I just couldn’t get some of the things that came out of my mouth. A sly smile came upon my face and I looked up at Joe, “So, when are you going to tell me about this girl you’re crushing on?” His expression went from one of serenity to one of horror, and then his face turned beet red, “Uhh…” “Oh come on, Joe. You can tell me, I won’t laugh,” I said playfully. “Yea you would,” he thought. “It’s Sarah isn’t it?” I prodded, I had a huge smile on my face when I saw him look down at me and turn even redder, if that was even possible. Sarah was one of my friends, I set her and Joe up for prom just last week. And if you ask me, they hit it off pretty well. Joe gave me a look, “Ok, ok, I’ll shut up,” I said putting him out of his misery. He just flashed me his adorable Joe grin that instantly made me smile, “Thank you,” he said, meaning it. We continued walking around the block in silence, just enjoying each other’s company until we made it back to my house. Joe walked me up to my door and I reached up on my toes to give him a huge hug which he gladly returned. We stayed there for a bit, holding each other. “Thank you,” I whispered into his ear as I pulled away. “For what?” He asked. “These walks, for being there, for everything,” I answered. “What are friends for?” I just smiled, “Goodnight, Joe.” “Goodnight, Beka,” he said as he began walking down the stairs, but quickly turned around. “Oh, Beka!” I stopped and turned toward him, “Yea?” “Do you, uh, mind if I played around with my guitar a bit? I mean, would it disturb you?” I thought for a second, “Not at all. I know exactly what I’m gonna write. I think I’ll join you when I’m done.” He seemed satisfied with my answer, “Awesome, I’ll see you on the balcony.” “Bye.” REVIEW! by the way, the rest of the guys (Joey, Ben, Ethan..I'm leaving Eric out of this one for accuracy's sake) come into the story in my 4th post. thanks, I got the balcony idea from "Whatever It Takes" with Shane West.
hmm, I'm thinking of just posting the rest in the span of the week instead of waiting for every week. I mean, I have a huge flashback up next that I split into 2 chapters. what do you think? |
