“Under The Oak”

Introduction

Someday, when I’m awfully low,
When the world is cold,
I will feel a glow, just thinking of you,
And the way you look, tonight.

An Institute of Culinary Arts, NYC student, an assistant chef at Le Margiér Café, and happy girlfriend of three years to Ethan Mentzer, Terra McIntyre couldn’t have a better life.

Terra had a few weeks left in the summer, and she would start her Postgraduate year in the ICANYC, to complete her Culinary Arts and Culinary Management Degree.

She had a wonderful job at Le Margiér Café, assisting on gourmet jobs and certain catering orders. She had been with the Café since it opened a few years ago, and enjoyed it’s ambiance and widespread popularity to New Yorkers.

She had met Ethan by complete accident.

Four years ago, she was driving up to Massachusetts to go to her friend’s housewarming party and birthday. It seemed to be complete fate that it was rainy along those Boston roads, and Ethan hit Terra’s ’93 Edition Toyota Corolla, dismantling a wheel.

There had been some tension and anger between Terra and Ethan. But Ethan being a genteman, insisted that she pick up her car sometime later, and that he drive her the rest of the way to her friend’s house.

Terra, with no further hassle, of course accepted. She had to be at her friend’s party.

Later on, at the party, too many people insisted on Ethan and her being too cute a couple, but Terra insisted stubbornly that they just met, and told the story of that fateful day.

After about a day, Ethan called Terra up, insisting he pay for the bills for her car. After a while of arguing that out, Terra got her way, but with a twist.

She had agreed that she pay for her car, but she would have to go on a date with Ethan.

A year after happy dating, Ethan popped the question and took it a step higher, and asked her to be his girlfriend. So of course, Terra said yes, and well, you know the rest.
