these are pretty much tips for fan fic writers and readers. i thought this would help a little, and i got bored so here goes.

TIPS FOR FAN FIC WRITERS.

- Put your mind to it 100% always try to write ahead of time so you don't keep your readers waiting.
- Be original. Make it different than others. The thing worse to a writer is jocking.
- Try to make the first chapter the best chapter. Almost eveyone just reads your first chapter.
- When you write don't make your chapters really short or really long. When you make it short people will most likely lose interest and if you make it too long it'll be a little boring. If you use Mircrosoft Word try to write up to 3 pages. That's about the med. chapter.
- When you leave your chapters in a cliff-hanger try to update ASAP.
_ It's better to update everyday. Not 5 chapters a day. Like 1 or 2 chapters a day is fine.
- When you're writing a fan fic always update ! Don't update like a month later. If you update every other day is fine. Just tell your readers that.
- When you post a new chapter try to change the title at the top saying the chapter you just updated, and what day. and what page.
IF YOU DONT KNOW HOW TO DO THAT FOLLOW THIS.
go to the first post on that thread.
click on the folder with an erasrer on it.
ta-da changed.
NOTE:YOU MUST START THE THREAD IN ORDER TO CHANGE THE THREAD'S NAME.
- dont be upset if you dont get as much readers just update. comments dont make the fan fic right?so just update and more people will come along.
- remember guests are people who havent joined the boards yet. you never know if one of the guests are reading. and they cant comment. and besides write a fan fic if YOU want to. so basically write it for yourself and if people dont like it who cares? its what you think about it.
- try posting the link to your fan fic on your sig. people will start reading a little quicker.
- ratings. they dont really matter. if you dont get 5 checks its okay.
- just because your first fan fic sucked doesnt mean your other one will. always try again, and be confident. youll gain experience.
- be as detailed as possible. paint a picture. the more detailed the better.
- and dont write LYkE DIS CUZZ NOBADY LYKES, SO WUT R U UP 2?
yeah dont write like that. write normal, itll be easier for reading.
- dont let rude comments bring you down. there will be lots of rude people so just ignore them.
- make your fan fics cleann. note that there are people younger than you, and if you write dirty stuff youre only filling their minds with junkk. so before you post your fan fic trying putting up a rating and the age number it goes. so the reader knows how it will be and theyre reading at their own caution.
EXAM : rating = G
Ages : 10 +
^^whatever. thats just an example. AND put it in your first post. if you put it at the end no ones reading that.

TIPS FOR FAN FIC READERS

- Whenever you're reading a fan fic and really like it dont just tell them to update soon adn that you lvoe it and never read it again. itll just make the writer feel bad. so always stick to a fan fic.
- dont judge by the title of the fan fic. you never know how to the fan fic turns out by a few lines. remeber a title is just a name.
- dont jugdeby author. just because their first fan fic flopped doesnt mean their new one will. they learn and gain experience so always read.
- dont judge by the first chapter. the first chapter is just introducing the fan fic. if you dont like the first chapter always try for the second one.
- always comment. leaving comments make the writer feel a lot better of their fan fic and build more confidence.
- read the fan fic. dont just leave comments to make the writer feel better and boost your karma points.
- always leave detailed comments. explain what parts you liked or didnt. youre not bringing the writer down youre helping them.
- always write nice comments. dont push the writer to update and dont write comments like 'isnt it time you updated?' no dont write like that its rude you can write 'update soon !' yeah thats a nicer way.

TIPS FROM OTHER BOARDIES :]

LAURA'S TIPS

-If you’re going to start a story, please finish it or at least tell us what the ending is. No one likes to be left hanging.

-Remember, the guys have access to these stories. Don’t write anything that you wouldn’t want them to read. Ben has already said that some of these stories have scared him away from further fan fiction reading. So please, keep it clean.

-Don’t make each chapter one huge chunk of writing. Space it out. Skip a line when your characters exchange in conversation. It really hurts our eyes to read from one huge chunk.

-Please use the spell check. It will only make your fic sound better and help with it's flow.

-This was already mentioned, but I feel the need to say it again. Be original. No one wants to read the same story by a different author three different times. Really focus on what will make your story different, maybe a crazy twist or something like that.

-And probably the most important out of everything, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T COPY PEOPLE'S STORIES. I can't say how many times I have seen incredibly similar story plots with the difference being the names of the characters. It's very hurtful to the original author that someone is stealing their work. So please, if you feel inspired to write a story because you were inspired by the plot of another, think carefully about it because you pretty much are plagarizing.

- Always write one fan fic at a time. If you can juggle two fan fics at once then that's your choice. But it's a lot easier if you only write one at one time and then start another one.

TORN BETWEEN MR.PACKAGE & BUBBLES TIPS
sorry i dont know your name =/

But, may I take it a step further? Your and You're are two different things. If you are going to say, "You're a great writer!" or something similar, keep in mind that is a contraction. It is like saying, "You are."

The word, "Your" is to show ownership. Your dog, your story, etc. I find that is a very common misconception on the boards! Also, There, their, and they're should be taken into account, too. These can be a little tricky sometimes, too!

HELEN'S TIPS

Learn to write. Learn to spell. Learn punctuation. Proof read. Unless it's a sci-fi type or purposesly unrealistic story, make it freakin realistic. Not like "one day these 5 girls who's 13 met five gorgeous guys in a band. They all fell in love and got married." It's cliche and not realistic.
I personally dont read any fictions because it's hard to read when it's written so poorly. I realized that not everyone is experienced in writing, though, and are just experimenting. Kinda like Paris Hilton and singing. Oooh, burn. But, go read some books and get some techniques from them. Join the Ben Romans book club and read George Orwell's "1984".
More tips:
I hate when people start off by expaining everything about the character in the first paragraph. After dialogue, hit your enter bar and start at a new line. Or it just runs on. Speaking of dialogue, be sure to spruce up how the person says it. Saying "said" gives no emotion to their voice. A reader can hear the voice of the character better with "SHUT UP!" yelled/roared/screamed Joey than "SHUT UP!" said Joey. Keep said to a minimum if they really do say it with little/no emotion. But, follow it up with some detail, such as "He's over there," said Ethan, pointing a to a bush that hardly camoflauged a naked Joey.

People who write multiple stories: Mix it up. Sometimes be your character. ("I") Sometimes narrate your character ("she"). Remember, in both cases, you can only go into the mind of that character. You cant read someone elses' thoughts. Sometimes narrate all the characters. (Be one character for a paragraph, then do your asteriks-***-to show another section of the story, and be another character, and so on.) Or be one of the guys, perhaps. In that case, think like a guy and not like a girl.
Or be an outsider character not in a love match and relate to the reader what you see happening with say, Jennifer (some made up character) and Ethan.

Obviously, we all make mistakes with spelling or punctuation. I do a lot. I tone down my writing for fictional stories, which I have two here that I've posted. This is because I dont spend any time on them and am not writing for school or for publishing, whatever. None of us are with fanfictions, so it doesnt have to be perfect. I know the rules about detail and making it so that the reader feels like they're really in the situation, although I dont always show it in the 2 fictions I wrote on here.

Allie's Tips

-People make topics asking people for help, like on characters, plots, what should happen. And if someone is going to approach writing a story that way, they shouldn't write it, because basically it is everyone elses ideas. What usually follows after that is, I need help for the next chapter any ideas? And I've seen that a lot in storys. And when your writing a story, you should know everything you want to happen in it, and not just ask everyone else for help. They need to come up with it themselves.

Emily's Tips.

It's really annoying when people start their fan fics like this:

"Hey everybody! I am Crystal Diamond and I am 16 years old. I go to Bay View High School and I ..."

Try starting it with a story line then introduce .

hope this helped you !!
if you have more ideas just PM and ill add in.
thanks Smiler

haha i actually wrote something like this a few months ago but i never bothered posting it. so if i may, i'll just add some of the things that weren't mentioned and if the author wants to just paste it to the top, then thats fine.

^ I was going to say this! Smiler

Now, I didn't post this to be all rude and be like, you're stupid. I just thought I'd give it some attention. Smiler I don't mean to offend anyone at all! Smiler
