Laura stared out of the old glass window in her bedroom. Rain was pouring heavily outside and it left tracks on the outside of the window. He wasn’t home yet and he hadn’t left any messages saying that he was going to be late. She sighed and looked at her hands that were folded in her lap. “Please be home soon.” she said in a low voice Laura was alone in the house. It was nothing new to her and it wasn’t something that made her happy either. She longed to be in his arms again. Thinking about his touch sent shivers down her spine. He had been gone for almost two months now and those two long months had been so hard for her. She cried every time she started to miss him. When her dog wanted to play with her she ignored him. She was too upset to do anything. Her friends tried their best to cheer her up but nothing seemed to work. No matter what they did she was never happy. “just leave me alone” she would say after they had returned her to her house. Things would never be the same as long as he wasn’t there. She missed his kisses. He used to sneak up from behind her and wrap his big, strong arms around her waist. Laura would always smile and turn around to see his handsome face and those amazing eyes that she loved so much. Not having him with her right now made her feel like there was a part of her missing, a hole in her heart. Laura’s dog hopped onto her lap hoping that she might pet him or rub his stomach. The dog squealed and placed his head on Laura’s hands. Laura moved one of her hands and placed it on the dog’s head. She felt sort of comforted now even though the dog wasn’t human at least it was something living. She smiled as she remembered how the dog became hers. It was a cold winter day...the twenty fourth of December two years ago. There was a knock on the front door. Laura, who was doing some cleaning, looked towards the door and put what she was cleaning down. She opened the door to find that no one was there. She looked to see if there was anyone around her house and there was no one still. Looking down at the ground she saw there was a box with her name on it and a note attached to it. Laura, I hope you love this as much as you love me. I’m sorry I can’t be with you this Christmas. I promise I’ll be home soon. I can’t wait to have you in my arms again. Until then have some fun with this little guy. ♥ J She smiled after she read the note and opened the top to the box. Inside there was a puppy with a ribbon on his head. He barked a little until Laura took him out of the box and held him close to her. It was a present she would love as much as she did love him Laura pet her dog and smiled but this memory made her miss him even more. She reached out to the picture on her night stand and looked at it. The picture brought tears to her eyes but they were tears of joy. This picture was from their first date. Laura knew right then and there that she wanted to be with him forever. His goofy personality and those amazing blue eyes had drawn her in and won her heart. Nothing was going to take him away from her. Laura started to trace the outlines of his face on the picture frame. ... Laura awoke the next morning with the picture of the two of them still in her hands. She had cried herself to sleep that night. She got up from where she was laying and yawned. She made her way down a flight of stairs and turned into the kitchen. Although it was bright outside the kitchen was almost pitch black. Laura flipped the light switch and saw her dog sitting next to it’s empty bowl of food.. In the empty bowl there was a piece of paper. She bent down to pick it up and read it. It read: if you love me you better turn around Laura didn’t know what it meant but she turned around anyway. Leaning against the wall she saw the love of her life. Her eyes widened and she rushed over to him with her arms open wide. She almost tackled him to the floor. Well she would have if the wall wasn’t behind him. “I missed you soooo much!!!!” Laura exclaimed “I missed you more.” he said squeezing her tightly “I love you Joey” “I love you too.” Laura pulled away from him for a second to look at his face and smiled. The next thing she knew his lips were touching hers. This was something she missed and was sooo happy to have back in her life. .... It bad I know =/ |
