from what i know of it, buddhism is a really good thing and i think we could all learn a lot about how to treat people from it.

I agree, except that if we're learning how to treat people and the bible says being homosexual is a sin then they really don't work hand in hand. If you aren't talking about the bible/Christianity, then ignore that comment.

i'm a catholic. no, i'm not very religous. no, i don't believe or agree with some of the things i was taught.
I don't really believe God himself said those things. I think it's possible the people who wrote the bible said to things to brush off things they did not understand, which in those times were many.
that one passgae also mentions drinking and premartial sex. people do these things commonly, and there are many devout christians who don't enforce the premartial sex thing.

I'm pretty sure she basically got most of what I tried to say out in a lot less words.

&& Kait, I don't think that would be devout, but that still doesn't mean that you're not that religion. Just because you disagree with a few things doesn't mean that you suddenly aren't of that religion anymore.

in the words of my friend, (who's reading over my back with interest) she says that Buddhism can either be a belief or a religion, it just depends on the person and what he/she chooses to believe.

and yeah, i agree with what becky posted, about homosexuality coming from the heart. after all, you fall in love with the person, and not the gender.

I didn't say that so I don't want to take credit. I was refering to Haley's comment. [i'm sorry i think your name is haley? i can't even say i'm sure. haha sorry i feel like a jackass]

& the more I catch up on everything in here, isn't religion the same as a way of life? I live my life as a Catholic and I follow the comandments in my everyday life. I live my life because of what I believe in.

i think they would work hand in hand by being able to look past the sins and treat the person with respect and kindness, yeah?

i would hope so, at least.
like was said already many times, it's basically pathetic that we can ignore so many other "sins" that people commit, yet there are such religious ties to why being gay is wrong.

But if you disagree with something in whatever religion you claim, aren't you technically not that religion anymore? Because each religion is based on the beliefs they choose. In reality, I think there are endless amounts of different religions, most of which have no specified name or church or book or anything along those lines, and the majority of people fall into one of those religions, not Christianity or Catholicism, or Buddhism, or Judaism, or what have you. It's almost as if, in my head at least, a religious title is no longer meant in it's literal form. We choose the one that fits our beliefs the best, and claim it as our own instead of sitting there for hours explaining what about each religion we do agree with, and what we don't.

I have no clue if that made sense.

i see christianity as a belief in God. no matter what other parts of it you agree with, if you believe in God, then you may consider yourself a christian.

the rest, the more specific things you agree with, are what make you a certain sect of christian. i think, at least.

yeah, it's haley (:

and tbh, i'm definitely christian (and i don't know every single detail about christianity so i don't know if i agree with everything or not), but i'd never let a single person tell me otherwise. like kayleigh said, what i was taught when i was raised was that if you believed in God and Heaven, you're a christian.
